Halong Bay

We went to Halong Bay with an overnight stay in Cat Ba..

We were taken around the Bay where there are literally thousands (Sonny said I didn't count) of islands. We landed on Halong Bay where you can enter a caving system that was found by one family and has subsequently been opened up as a tourist attraction... Not sure if the photos do it justice, but I was wanting to sing "It's a small world after all" was just too Disneyworldish... I am not judging it at all, but it seemed to me to have ruined the characteristics of the cave system, but running cables and positioning neon lights in strategic places throughout the walk.. Others loved it though, perhaps I'm just a purist tourist??.. After that it was lunch on the boat crusing around many of the islands before being taken to Cat Ba... One of the inhabited islands within the archapelego..

Was an experience though, and one not to miss... I'm not sure how changed it will be in a few years time as others who have been there made no mention of the pretty coloured lighting systems... Perhaps they will have installed a sound system, and you can karaoke in the caves??

Tutu and Dudu :o)
