Travelling to Vietnam..

Our bus left late.. Despite leaving a wake up call for 5.30am the first we heard was "get up the bus has been waiting and it's now late" call from Jack.. Who said Kiwis can't fly... so ok, we weren't awake, dressed, or bathed but we made the bus...
The bridge to Ho Chi Min city has stilled not been rebuilt so the bus had to take the ferry across Neak Loueng, which is notable as a base for the north vietnamese from around 1970 - 1972. (Prior to the Khymer rouge regime)..
Just had to take a photo of the bus showing the Karaoke playing..
We are staying at the Gold Hotel in Ho Chi Min and the cost is $20per night.. One block from the tourist area, and no more than 4 blocks from most major tourist attractions.. It has a bath, woo hoo!!! Just had lunch at a restaurant displaying a photo of Bill Clinton.. so must be in good company :o)
The currency is Dong... ( I know it's childish but still don't care!! ) and the exchange rate is 17,600 to $1 US... Went to the ATM and got out 1,500,000 dongs... Shades of Austin Powers, 1 Million Dongers... (ok loses somewhat in translation)..
Another group dinner tonight as our tour officially ends today, and tomorrow we go into a holding pattern for the next leg, which is through Vietnam.. We have been told that Hoi An is recovering quickly from the typhoon that has gone through, so our journey will not be interrupted.... Will keep you updated as we move through...
First impressions of Vietnam, more civilised and therefore more familiar.. Not sure if that's a good thing or not only time will tell..
Tutu and Dudu signing off for now.. xoxoxox...
