- To break the emotional rollercoaster that today had engendered and
- Esther was leaving us for Holland the next day.
So we were heading off to the riverfront restaurant for a meal... Despite the morning being very hot very sunny and very dry, that afternoon on our return from the killing fields the weather turned nasty... In the space of two hours you couldn't see the road at all it was all underwater.. We tossed up ordering in pizza for dinner, but Jack wasn't having a bar of it.. So we ordered two tuk tuks... (Bloody hell will we never learn??) Funny thing was, Esther said, perfect but I'm not travelling with you.. cheeky witch, but prophetic really... Because............. as we started off to the restaurant with Dudu, Michelle, Michele and I (oh and also Jack) we had got no further than around the corner from the hotel, when the tuk tuk started smoking and spluttering and then died... Now this time I was determined not to get of this sucker, as I'd already ruined one pair of shoes getting back to the hotel through the river that was called euphemistically "a road".. and I'd only bought two pairs with me... We took one look at each other and cracked up.. we should have known better... We were just about to launch into a "paper, scissors, rock" game to see who we could push off the tuk tuk (and I was thinking hmmm 3 Kiwis, 1 American - no brainer really) when Jack hopped off and started pushing us... In the meantime the driver and hopped off too and was pulling us.... So between the two of them, pushing and pulling and us 4 laughing it gave us the levity needed to break todays trip... nice really and so needed... (although we were told off about rocking the damned thing... apparently it was heavy - go figure I've only doubled my body size since leaving NZ. It could've been soo much worse)
Dinner was ok, (kiwi for wouldn't go again, but didn't get poisoned either) but the cold beers were brilliant... Home to the hotel for a 6.00am depature time to Vietnam..
Will not forget Cambodia, and son, Warning you now... (actually warning all of you now.. When I get home want a kazillion hugs from each of you..)
Tutu and Dudu :o) xoxoxoxox
