Ho Chi Min City... (HCMC)

Same same but different...

This city is vibrant, busy, westernised, and certainly more hectic. Kind of reminds me of a young man.. Arrogant, brash, impatient, marked cynicism with hints of innocence.. (Nice really)

We were given two different instructions for crossing the roads here, given that according to Jack there are over 1 million motorbikes in HCMC.. His advice, do no step back and to flap your arms at oncoming traffic.. Our new leader Sonny's advice, don't stop... Lucky really since we employed both strategies... Ie: we didn't stop, and flapped our arms around crazily... (much like the peacock dance displayed for us in Cambodia)..

In any event this update is going to be quick... Dudu bought a pair of Chanel glasses for 50,000 dong.. and it's never been easier to spend a million... I have already but our tour guide said that for Vietnam on average you will need $50 - $100 US per day for food and water, more for shopping.. Went around the city on cyclo's, a dying mode of transportation.. Crazy guys, they don't stop for anything, and the photo with the bus, I took as an intended last record of my time here... IT WAS DRIVING TOWARDS US AS OUR CYCLOS MEANDERED IN FRONT OF IT. No tooting, no braking and obviously no worries....

It's definately hotter here but I suspect its the urban environment.. There are people everywhere and at all times of the night... Went to dinner and passed a few rats, which according to Sonny is something to look forward to on the overnight train from Na Tranh to Hoi Ahn (Speelling is atroshius) Dudu went out for drinks with some of the crew, and she said, that at one of the spots, there was a cat that was taken outside, wandered back in, and was escorted upstairs.. Guess what's upstairs.. Rhymes with bitchin.. Also our cyclo drivers did not agree as to the dogs in cages... mine said they weren't eaten here, Dudu's said they were... same same but different.

Drinking iced coffee in the park at 9.00 at night, it's alive with families playing hackey sack, badminton, soccer or just impromptu concerts given by their children... (saw an emerging Tupac last night, he would have been all of 8.. Sounded like rap, but he looked like Erkle)..

Outside was approached to see if wanted, cigarettes, books, lighters or Dak... There are street sweepers everywhere - manual though and the people are all decked out in label clothing.. Not sure how much of it is real though.... Today we are off to the Mekong Delta for an overnight stay, and cruise down the river.. On our way back to HCMC we will be stopping at the cu chi tunnels..

We have both agreed that we must increase our water intake. We have been generous with the fluid intake, but the types we have been indulging in only serve to dehydrate one.. Go figure!!
It's 7.00am, and the bus is due soon, check out needed and must find food and water..
Tutu and Dudu :o)
